Liu Hong glanced at the document without flipping through it and instead asked Jin Shiya to send her the files she had organized herself. They also casually discussed some of the company’s suitable artists. After mentioning a few names, Liu Hong suddenly thought of someone.
"Don’t say, we just signed a university student recently. She’s beautiful, very pure-looking, and is still a trainee with zero experience. She’s perfect for this."
Jin Shiya was a bit confused. She hadn’t been paying attention to the list of new artists recently and couldn’t help but admire Liu Hong even more. Liu Hong was much busier than she was, always on the move, managing Chen Zichen’s schedule, and yet she still kept track of the new talent entering the company. Her dedication to her work was truly impressive.
"Who is she, Liu Jie?"
"Her name is Jiang Shiyu, same as her stage name. It’s nice, so she didn’t bother changing it. She’s twenty this year, the same age as you, and still in university. She was discovered by one of our agents at a convenience store. I heard she was working there to support her family."
Liu Hong continued without pause, giving Jin Shiya the full details of the newcomer. Jin Shiya was impressed, "You really know everything, Liu Jie."
Liu Hong laughed, "Of course, every artist is a cash cow for the company. I have to keep track of everything."
They chatted for a while, and soon, other colleagues from the office returned. Liu Hong patted Jin Shiya’s shoulder and went back to her own desk to receive the document Jin Shiya had sent. After browsing through it, Liu Hong thought that Jin Shiya might be more suitable for the marketing department. However, in their secretarial office, such work wouldn't earn her a commission.
But then she realized that since the company was family-owned, commissions weren’t really a concern for them.
Jin Shiya sent another document, which Liu Hong opened. She found that Jin Shiya had compiled a list of about ten potential candidates, including Jiang Shiyu. Liu Hong smiled slightly and made a few adjustments to the document before sending it to Chen Zichen. She then printed the files and headed to his office for their work discussion.
Meanwhile, Jin Shiya wasn’t idle either. She sent the artist list she had compiled to Noland. Normally, sending internal company documents outside would be against company policy. But given Noland's status, even though Jin Shiya wasn’t fully clear on his background, she was confident that he wouldn’t be interested in their trivial internal information. Besides, this entire project had essentially come from Noland’s direction in the first place.
Add to that their inexplicable mentor-mentee dynamic, and Jin Shiya didn’t hesitate to send the materials to him.
As she did so, her thoughts wandered back to their meeting the previous evening. She replayed his words in her mind, particularly focusing on his age. She hadn’t expected him to be an older man, already twenty-nine.
At that moment, Noland sneezed, and his personal assistant, Olivia, looked at him with concern. "Sir, would you like some cold medicine?"
The twenty-nine-year-old man, feeling confident in his health, waved her off. "No need."
He sat by the large windows in the second-floor lounge of his estate, the warm sunlight casting a gentle glow on him. On the small coffee table next to him, a cup of red tea sat steaming. As the phone beeped with a message, he was snapped out of his thoughts.
Noland reached for the phone, and Olivia promptly placed it in his hand. He unlocked it and saw the document from Jin Shiya, accompanied by a message.
Noland couldn’t help but think that his sneeze must have been a sign that Jin Shiya was talking about him behind his back. He shook his head, deciding to give her a bit of space. "Olivia, go ahead and print the document. I’ll take a look later."
