Despite finding it strange, Jin Shiya didn’t think much of it. After all, other people’s oddities had nothing to do with her.

Jin Shiya bought coffee after the foreigner completed his order. When she stepped out of the cafe, she noticed him standing by the back window of the black car parked in front of Miss Liu Jie's car, talking to someone inside.

Jin Shiya struggled to carry cups of coffee as she got into Liu Jie’s car. Liu Hong immediately realized that she ordered her coffee too.

Though her salary was more than enough to buy her own coffee, she appreciated Jin Shiya's thoughtfulness.

After carefully reversing the car, Liu Hong made sure she wouldn’t hit the “walking banknotes” in front of them. Only then did she shift gears and head toward the company.

(Notes: walking banknotes = It's a fun or joking way to describe someone who is very rich or looks like they’re easy to exploit financially)

As they drove away, Jin Shiya glanced at the rearview mirror and saw that the foreigner only got into the passenger seat after they left.

When they arrived at the company, Jin Shiya dismissed the thought from her mind. She distributed the coffee, carrying the general manager’s cup to his office and knocking on the door.

At this hour, Jin Shiya was the only one expected to come into the office—it was an arrangement between her and the general manager.

Soon, a gentle male voice called out, “Come in.”

Jin Shiya smiled and entered, “Hello, Senior.”

The man stood up from behind his desk, moved to a nearby sofa, and sat down. Jin Shiya took a seat on the single sofa across from him, placing the coffee in front of the man.

 “You’re here pretty early today.”

Chen Zichen, who was five years older than Jin Shiya, chatted with her while drinking his coffee. Although he had already graduated by the time she enrolled in university, they had already known each other for several years.

He came from a poor family—very poor. Despite being incredibly smart and having graduated from high school at fifteen, he couldn't afford to go to college. If it wasn't for Jin Shiya's father sponsoring him, he never would have gotten to where he was.

After graduation, he was grateful to Jin Shiya’s father and joined their small company, slowly climbing to his current position.

Hearing Chen Zichen's comment, Jin Shiya smiled. “This is my first time handling such a big project, so I can’t calm down.”

She was twenty years old, twenty-one by Chinese age, and in her third year of university. Her father had thrown her into the company before the summer break of her sophomore year. The workload in her third year wasn’t too heavy, so she could skip classes occasionally without worrying about failing. After all, that diploma wasn’t all that important to Jin Shiya.

As they finished their coffee, Chen Zichen's cell phone rang—it was an alarm he'd set.

Jin Shiya stood up, ready to leave. Chen Zichen was a very serious person; he never did anything unrelated to work during office hours. The alarm was a reminder that it was almost time to start work.

Jin Shiya went to the restroom to check her makeup, and then returned to her desk.

Since Chen Zichen was always early, the entire secretary office was also working early, and everyone had already started their tasks by the time Jin Shiya sat down.

However, not long after she settled in, the landline next to Liu Hong rang. Liu Hong snatched it up quickly: “Hello, this is the RM Film and Entertainment Company General Manager’s Secretary Office. I’m Liu Hong, the general manager’s secretary. How may I assist you?”

After a moment, Liu Hong’s expression suddenly changed.“Yes, yes, is it still the same time as before?… Alright, I understand. Don’t worry, RM is looking forward to your arrival.”

Liu Hong hung up the phone, her face turning serious. She quickly jotted something down in her notebook and headed for the general manager’s office.

About ten minutes later, Liu Hong hurried back to the secretarial office. She stood in front of the executive secretary’s desk, clapped her hands, and waited for everyone to look at her before speaking.

“We have a problem. AIBO Film Studios, who were supposed to come at 1:30 PM to sign the contract, has moved the time up. They’ll be arriving at 10:30 AM. Also, there have been some changes in personnel. I’ll receive the list shortly, but the top executives will be coming, so we’ll need to adjust our plans.”

Liu Hong remained calm. She assigned a task to each person in the office, with great detail. This included instructions for arranging the reception room and changing the refreshments. When it was Jin Shiya’s turn, she hesitated but ultimately followed the general manager’s instructions:

“Jin Shiya, you’ll follow the general manager and help receive the guests.”
