Although Noland's personality wasn't the best, he was surprisingly thoughtful in the small details. However, Jin Shiya suspected that the clothes and accessories in her bedroom wardrobe were likely the work of Olivia.
After all, Noland was a man, and just preparing clothes would have been impressive enough. Expecting him to pick out accessories, handbags, pendants, hats, and small wallets seemed a bit much. Even the row of cosmetics on the vanity table, some of which were newly released products Jin Shiya hadn’t been able to buy yet, gave her pause. Some of those items weren’t even available in China, and it was difficult to get them quickly through a purchasing agent. Normally, she would have to wait until they were officially released.
Some things could only be acquired with more than just money.
After her bath, Jin Shiya felt much more energized and alert. She blow-dried her hair, sat at the vanity, tried out the cosmetics she hadn't yet been able to get her hands on, and applied her makeup. Once she was satisfied with her look and the casual clothes she had picked, she spent a little more time inspecting herself in the full-length mirror. Confident there were no flaws, she headed out.
She had spent about an hour and a half getting ready, and when she finally stepped out, she saw Olivia waiting outside her door. Jin Shiya felt a little embarrassed.
“Sorry, I didn’t realize you were waiting here. I should have let you sit in the living room.”
“It’s not your fault. As a personal assistant, it’s part of my job. When Mr. Harris stays in bed in the mornings, I sometimes wait outside his door for two hours.”
Olivia's deadpan remark revealed a little more than Jin Shiya had expected, but she didn’t have time to comment before Olivia turned to lead the way.
“Mr. Harris is already waiting for you in the dining room. Since you’ve never been there before, I’ll show you the way. From now on, if you’re hungry, you can just go to the dining room. There will always be a chef on duty, twenty-four hours a day.”
Jin Shiya’s family was wealthy, but no matter how rich they were, they only employed a few long-term servants and one housekeeper. A kitchen with twenty-four-hour service was probably something even Bai Yongyan’s family wouldn’t have.
Following Olivia down to the dining room on the first floor, Jin Shiya was momentarily dazzled by the stunning view outside. The dining room had large floor-to-ceiling windows, and just beyond them was a wide, spacious balcony with an incredible ocean view. Waves crashed against the cliffs below, and in the face of such a breathtaking sea and sky scene, she almost forgot about Noland, who was sitting at the table.
"Hey, stop staring, let's eat. Aren't you hungry?"
Noland’s voice finally pulled Jin Shiya’s attention back to him. She blinked, realizing that despite feeling much better after the flight and the hectic day, her stomach was growling with hunger.
She obediently sat across from Noland, who, instead of sitting at the large central table, had chosen a smaller rectangular table in the corner near the windows. The table was high, with stools that forced Jin Shiya to rest her feet on the chair rather than the floor.
The table was large, making the distance between them a bit closer. On it, there were several dishes that immediately made Jin Shiya’s stomach growl in anticipation.
It wasn’t local Mexican food or Western cuisine, but rather a familiar comfort—congee and small side dishes. The warm, soft vegetable porridge was paired with crunchy, flavorful pickled cucumbers and spicy kimchi. There was even a small plate with a perfectly fried egg drizzled with a little soy sauce.
Jin Shiya’s mouth watered, and she felt like she could eat several bowls of rice.
