After finishing her meal, Jin Shiya felt thoroughly satisfied. Despite having no plans to sleep after such a long rest, she lazily sank into the cozy sofa in the lounge, munching on the fruit platter Noland had brought her. The day felt incredibly pleasant.

While she was lounging on the sofa, her sharp ears caught the sound of a dog barking. Jin Shiya straightened up, only to see a golden retriever with soft fur walking in. The dog trotted quickly over to Noland, sitting beside him and raising its front paw to rest on his knee, its tail wagging enthusiastically.

Jin Shiya felt like she had seen this golden retriever somewhere before. After a moment of thought, she suddenly remembered—Noland's WeChat profile picture was of this very dog!

Noland skillfully petted the dog under its chin, “Wendy, have you eaten yet?”

Olivia, who followed the dog in, answered, “She’s already eaten and taken her walk.”

They exchanged a few casual words, but Jin Shiya couldn’t shake the feeling that she had forgotten something important.

After thinking for a while, she suddenly remembered something Noland had once said: “I really like your personality. You’re just like Wendy. So, why don’t you become my apprentice?”

Jin Shiya blinked, processing the words. It took a moment for her to realize what she had forgotten. She couldn’t help but look at Noland. “You said before that I’m like Wendy, right?” She hadn’t noticed it at the time, but after thinking about it, she had assumed Wendy was either Noland’s relative or ex-girlfriend. She never would have guessed that Wendy was actually Noland’s pet golden retriever!

Noland looked down at her, his gaze cool and unimpressed. The woman was sprawled on the sofa, almost sinking into it, and she was now questioning him in a somewhat accusatory tone. He didn’t respond right away, instead giving Wendy a pat on the head and saying, “Go.”

Wendy, well-trained, immediately understood her owner’s command and waddled over to Jin Shiya. The dog flopped onto her, nudging her with its warm body and soft fur until Jin Shiya was completely squished into the couch.

“Ah, it tickles!” Jin Shiya laughed, her voice full of joy. After a little playful wrestling, she ended up hugging Wendy, letting the dog rest on top of her while she absentmindedly stroked its fur.

Jin Shiya loved dogs, but her father was allergic to dog hair, so they could never have one at home. Even petting other people’s dogs was out of the question, since her father would break out in itchy red spots the moment he came into contact with dog fur.

So, Jin Shiya had always kept her distance from dogs.

But today, she was not only petting a dog—she was lying on the sofa, cuddling it.

Since Noland had allowed her to enjoy playing with Wendy, Jin Shiya decided not to hold it against him for the remark about her being like a dog earlier.

As she continued to enjoy her time with the dog, Noland leaned back against the sofa, sipping his coffee while dealing with the director's team. It wasn’t really about any work-related matters; it was just their frustration over the RM team’s absence from the hotel.

Noland glanced at Jin Shiya without a change in expression. She was wearing the white cotton off-shoulder T-shirt and the light-colored linen pants he had carefully chosen for her and placed in her wardrobe. It was obvious she didn’t have her phone in the pockets of her clothes, which explained why the director's team couldn't locate her and had gone straight to him instead.

Noland took another sip of his coffee, deciding not to mention this to Jin Shiya for now. He figured she could keep enjoying herself a little longer. After all, he hadn’t brought her here to work—there was always Sherman for that.

Outside the room, the sun was shining brightly, and in his office, Sherman, who was remotely attending a video meeting on Noland's behalf, couldn’t help but sneeze.
