By the time the afternoon sun began to set, Jin Shiya had fully recovered. Noland, along with Wendy, took her out for a walk on the beach. Walking on the soft white sand, the sunset cast a warm orange glow across the ocean. Shangcheng, too, was near the sea, but the commercial atmosphere was so strong that it was hard to find a beach as wide and comfortable as this one.

The most incredible part was that MX had such vast, empty spaces—there wasn't a single person on this beautiful beach!

Jin Shiya and Wendy played around on the sand, with the golden retriever chasing her and leaving behind paw prints, which were soon washed away by the waves.

As they played, Jin Shiya even took off her shoes and let her feet sink into the sand. Wendy ran around her, and occasionally, when its front paws sank too deep into the soft sand, it would let out a bark and struggle to free itself, before following Jin Shiya around again.

During their playful time, Wendy inevitably got wet from the seawater. Being a dog, it instinctively shook its fur, which not only refreshed it but also splashed Jin Shiya with seawater, leaving droplets all over her light-colored clothes.

"Hey, Wendy, that’s not fair!" Jin Shiya pretended to be angry and splashed some seawater back onto the dog. Not understanding what it had done wrong, Wendy tucked its tail and scampered a few steps backward, hiding behind Noland.

Its long tail brushed past Noland’s legs, flinging seawater and sand onto his feet.

Jin Shiya couldn’t help but laugh at the sight.

They played for a while longer, and when Noland called out that it was time to head back for dinner, Jin Shiya got ready to leave but suddenly froze.

"My shoes... where are they?"

"Don’t know. They probably got washed away," Noland replied casually.

Jin Shiya’s eyes widened in disbelief. "You were supposed to keep an eye on them!"

Noland looked at her as if she were a fool. "Huh?"

Jin Shiya let her shoulders droop. In that moment, she realized that asking Noland to keep an eye on her shoes was wishful thinking. She knew his personality well enough by now. Noland was not the type of guy who would be like the romantic leads in dramas, picking up her shoes and following her around. Not only would he not do that, but he would also make a sarcastic remark.

“Littering like this, adding to the ocean’s pollution. Jin Shiya, you really know how to make an impression.”

Jin Shiya stood there, feeling speechless. After all, it was her own mistake. But walking barefoot back... Her feet would be ruined. The soft sand was one thing, but there was also a stone path and concrete roads ahead. After playing with Wendy for an hour or two, the walk back would take at least forty minutes.

A little embarrassed, she asked, "Did you bring your phone? Can you have someone bring me my shoes?"

"Nope," Noland replied bluntly.

Jin Shiya’s head dropped even lower. "Well, then you can go ahead. Once you're back, maybe you can have someone bring them."

Noland didn’t answer her right away. After a long pause, Jin Shiya, curious, finally looked up and saw Noland squatting down a little way off. "What are you spacing out for? Going back and forth is such a waste of time. How about I carry you instead?"

Jin Shiya froze for a moment, then smiled. Just as she was about to climb onto Noland’s broad back, Wendy leapt ahead and jumped onto her owner’s back.

Noland stumbled forward for a second, thrown off balance by Wendy’s sudden action, and then immediately scowled. At that moment, Jin Shiya had to admit it—she and Wendy were indeed quite alike.
